It’s official: Former Bar 30 to become a steakhouse

Monday, July 29 — The owners of Capital Prime Steaks and Seafood, a new restaurant planned for Eastwood Towne Center, announced today it will open next month.


“Right now, we’re shooting for a soft opening on Aug. 26, with a grand opening sometime in September,” Capital Prime majority owner Joseph Goodsir said in an interview today. The restaurant will move into the former location of Bar 30, which was a restaurant by day, nightclub by night. It lasted a little less than a year before closing in June.


“We identified the need in this market for an upscale, modern steak and seafood restaurant, comparable to those in Detroit and Chicago,” Goodsir said in a press release.


The building is undergoing interior design changes and will have a patio renovation, which will feature two external fireplaces. It is expected to accommodate up to 250 people. Capital Prime will have two private rooms in addition to its regular dining room and a bar area, called The Lounge. The release said The Lounge will transform into a piano and jazz bar Thursday through Saturday and will feature local and national artists.


Goodsir is a partner in EquityVest, the management company behind local restaurants and bars such as Beggar’s Banquet, Harrison Road House, Rick’s American Café and The Riv in East Lansing, as well as the Nut House Sports Grill in Lansing. EquityVest is not involved in the new restaurant.


One of the partners will be Leonard Jump, a restaurant operator with extensive experience at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, a high-end chain. Bassam Sharkas was named as executive chef. (He previously served as executive chef of Andiamo Restaurant Group in the Detroit area.) Villegas and Dusty’s Wine Bar vet CJ Davis will serve as Capital Prime’s sommelier. Davis is also Delhi Township Supervisor.
