Donate blood, get a discount ticket to see “M*A*S*H” at Riverwalk

Friday, Aug. 9 — Put away your golf clubs, please extinguish all cigars and hold off on that martini. Riverwalk Theater and the local chapter of the American Red Cross are teaming up to provide Lansing theatergoers with an opportunity to enjoy Riverwalk’s new production of “M*A*S*H” and donate to the local charity. A limited number of people who donate blood on Saturday, Aug. 27 will receive a voucher for a discounted ticket to “M*A*S*H.”

“The need for a large blood supply for transfusions is evident in both the script and in real life," said Riverwalk board member Gary Mitchell in a news release. The charity has obvious ties to the production — surgeons in the Army need blood just as local trauma surgeons do.

The production follows the comedic misadventures of the drinking, smoking, golfing doctors of the 4077 Mobile Army Surgical Hospital during the Korean War. The unit’s two best chest surgeons, Hawkeye and Duke, annoy their overly religious peers, play loose and fast with military protocol and try to get a young Korean student into a good school.

Donations will be made at downtown Lansing’s Radisson Hotel
