Posted

Tuesday, Jan. 28 — Two of America's favorite pastimes, baseball and beer, come together in Lansing for the inaugural Beerfest at the Ballpark in April. The event is hosted by both the Lansing Lugnuts and I'm a Beer Hound, a Michigan beer news website and event promotion group. Beerfest at the Ballpark will be held on Saturday, April 5 at the Cooley Law School Stadium, and will give attendees a chance to taste over 50 craft beers, meads and ciders from over 24 Michigan Breweries. Tickets go on sale Monday, Feb. 17.

“This is the perfect event for any beer lover, whether they are a connoisseur or a newcomer, as attendees will enjoy the unique flavors of breweries, cideries and meaderies from across the state of Michigan,” said Paul Starr, creator of I’m A Beer Hound.

Regular tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door and come with a logoed sampling glass and 10 3-ounce sampling tickets. Special VIP tickets can only be purchased in advance and include everything the regular tickets offer in addition to five more sampling tickets and early access to the festival at noon.

Additional tickets will be available for purchase at the event, similar to previous years. Although the price has not been set yet, Starr said that the going price is usually five tickets for $5.

“We hope everyone will come out and enjoy a great day that celebrates Michigan beer in a unique setting,” said Nick Grueser, general manager of the Lansing Lugnuts, via a press release.

In addition to tasting Michigan beers, the festival will include live music from Joe Wright, whose style is a unique blend of classic rock and country. A portion of the proceeds gathered from the event will be donated to Old Newsboys, a local organization that provides shoes for deserving school children.
