Update: Public meeting with BWL execs relocated

Community Review Team will interview BWL officials for five hours on Monday morning at Foster Community Center

Friday, March 7 — The independent panel reviewing the Board of Water and Light’s December ice storm management will interview top BWL officials Monday morning at Foster Community Center, 200 N. Foster Ave., on Lansing’s East Side.

The team originally planned to meet at Fire Station No. 1, but the location moved due to space and parking constraints. The work session will be held in Room 210 at the community center from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The meeting is open to the public, but there will not be an opportunity for the public to ask questions directly of BWL officials.

Earlier this week, the Community Review Team, led by retired Brig. Gen. Michael McDaniel, announced a second request for documents from the BWL. It follows an earlier request received last month that McDaniel originally said looked “incomplete.”

It asks for details related to training BWL employees on response plans, appendices to its Emergency Operations Plan hat wasn’t received in the first request, notes and emails from 12 senior BWL officials between Dec. 20 and Jan. 3 and a compilation of mutual aid agreements, among others.

The CRT is expected to issue its report in early April.
