Gem, Mineral & Fossil Show
The Central Michigan Lapidary and Mineral Society, a 501C3 non-profit club, will hold its 52nd Annual Gem, Jewelry, Fossil and Mineral Show in the Main Arena, Ingham County Fair Grounds on October 20, 21 & 23.
The Show is held primarily for the youth and hobbyist as we anticipate over 1000 3rd-5th grade children, studying the earth sciences, to visit the facility on Friday morning when, we have the floor and displays set up especially for them. Furthering our commitment to youth and education the Society grants a yearly scholarship to a deserving M. S. U. Geological Sciences student.
Dealers from Michigan, Illinois and Indiana will offer for sale and display a variety of agates, mineral specimens, fossils, pearls, beads, copper, cabochons, silver work, lapidary equipment and supplies, and other lapidary art objects.
The Show is open to the Public 6:00 – 9:00 pm Friday, 10:00 am - 6:00 pm Saturday and 11:00 am – 5:00 pm Sunday. Admission $3.00 for Adults, Teens $1.00 Children under 12 Free with paying Adult, Scouts in Uniform Free. Refreshments are available and Parking is free.
Activities offered by the Society include demonstrators displaying lapidary skills, petoskey stone polishing, an exceptional silent auction, raffle, fluorescent booth, touch and feel table, many club and guest display cases, hourly door prizes, and a children's (open to all) table containing minimally priced member collected rocks, minerals and fossils.
The Society was organized in 1957, to promote interest in and increase knowledge of the fields of mineralogy, paleontology, geology, and the lapidary arts. Additional information about this years Show and the Society may be found on our Web Site michrocks.org.
