Turning on the ’Power’

Icarus Falling presents comic trilogy

"The theme of the evening is definitely ’who is in control here?’" said Icarus Falling artistic director Jeff Croff of “Power Plays,” opening Friday, Feb. 19.

Directed by Allan I. Ross, "Power Plays" features Icarus ensemble regulars Jack Dowd and Amy Winchell, who are joined by returning performers Bob Murrell and SaDonna White.

The three-part show was co-written by Elaine May and Alan Arkin.

"The Way of All Fish," the first one-act, tells the story of female exec on Madison Avenue who is stuck in the office one evening with her secretary, who may be psychotic. "Virtual Reality" is about two "wise guys" mysteriously teamed up on a job by forces unknown.

The evening ends with "In and Out of the Light," which brings together all four actors to tell the tale of a lovesick dentist who has decided that the time is right to make his move on his nymphette of a hygienist. A hypochondriac emergency patient and an anxiety-ridden son manage to complicate the evening’s plans.

"It’s all very funny," said Croff.
