LAHR’s Prism Awards honor local efforts

The 11th Annual Prism Awards, sponsored by the Lansing Association for Human Rights, will be Saturday, Oct. 2, at the East Lansing Hannah Community Center, 819 Abbott Road. Planned as part of the National Coming Out Day, the Prism Awards honor those in the local community who have aided in the advancement of the greater Lansing LGBT community over the past year.

The event will begin at 6 p.m. with hor d’oeuvres and a cash bar. The ceremony will run from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., led by MCs Penny Gardner from Michigan Equality and Matt Weingarden from LAHR. Entertainment will be provided by the Inside Out Quartet and singer/songwriter Kate Petersen. Tickets are $10 to $50 on a sliding scale, and will be available at the door.
