Lang Lang at the Wharton Center

Internationally renowned pianist Lang Lang his Wharton Center debut with a solo concert Monday evening. A native of Shenyang, China, Lang has performed at global events such as the 2014 World Cup and the 2008 Beijing Olympics. In addition to his many musical achievements, Time magazine has also recently placed Lang on its annual list of the top 100 most influential people in the world for his self-proclaimed “second career,” working to bring music into the lives of children all over the world. He is also the founder of the Lang Lang foundation, an organization whose mission is to educate, inspire, and motivate the next generation of classical music lovers and performers.

Sharper Focus/Wider Lens

Greater Lansing Area residents who find themselves in an academic mood are welcome to attend MSU's lecture series, 'Sharper Focus/Wider Lens,' a trans-disciplinary investigation of important issues. This week the topic is 'What's UP: The Past, Present and Future of Michigan's Upper Peninsula.' The forum will feature speakers John P. Beck of the School of Human Resources and Labor Relations, Randy Schaetzl of the Department of Geography, Wenona Singel of the College of Law and Scott Winterstein of the Department of Fisheries and Wildlife. Cynthia Jackson-Elmoore of the Honors College serves as moderator. Cookies and other refreshments are provided.
