What's up in Lansing: Russian ballet, endangered plant art and more

A local artist pairs the endangered with the endangering with her show at the Lansing Art Gallery, "Foreshadowing: Endangered and Threatened Plant Species." Jane Kramer depicts the shadows of threatened plant species on paper she makes herself from the pulp of the invasive plant species that harms native flora in the first place. Two classic Russian ballets are performed by the renowned Moscow Festival Ballet at the Wharton Center tonight. The evening includes a full performance of “Romeo and Juliet,” as well as selections from “The Sleeping Beauty,” both set to scores by Tchaikovsky and presented with exquisite costumes and lush scenery. Founded in 1989, the critically acclaimed troupe features leading dancers from across Russia. 8 p.m. Tickets start at $28. Wharton Center, 750 E. Shaw Lane, East Lansing.
