Rise Against announced as July 6 Common Ground headliner

WEDNESDAY, May 4 — Common Ground Music Festival announced today that melodic hardcore band Rise Against will headline its July 6 lineup.

Formed in Chicago in 1999, Rise Against has released seven studio albums and eight EPs. The band’s last four albums have all hit the top 10 on the Billboard 200 chart, and its most recent release, 2014’s “The Black Market,” peaked at No. 3 on the chart.

The band is known for its belief in music as a vehicle for change. Rise Against appears alongside superstars like Adele and Sting on Amnesty International’s “Chimes Of Freedom: The Songs of Bob Dylan,” has toured with Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello, campaigned against gun violence with the Demand A Plan organization and supported Make It Stop campaign’s attempt to raise awareness of LBGT teen suicides and bullying.

Also joining the July 6 lineup are the Bouncing Souls, Red Sun Rising, ’68, Jason Alarm and Heartsick. Tickets for July 6 go on sale 10 a.m. Friday. The festival announced last week that counrty superstar Tim McGraw will headline July 7.

Saturday, July 9: Dierks Bentley, Canaan Smith, Aubrie Sellers, Brent James and the Vintage Youth, Adam Sanders, Joey Hyde, Brandon Lay, Carter Winter, Aileeah Colgan, Drew Hale, Audrey Ray and Phillip Fox Band.

Sunday, July 10: Jason Derulo, Daya, Jacob Whitesides, Karlos Farrar, Matt B, Kid Quill, REDD and Taylor Taylor.
