Capitol Loop Gifts brings local swag to City Market

Posted

WEDNESDAY, May 11 — A pair of local entrepreneurs is giving shoppers a new place to pick up local swag.

Capital Loop Gifts, which opened in the Lansing City Market earlier today, is the latest venture from Paul Brogan and Nathan Williams. The duo also run River Town Adventures, a kayak and canoe rental business that operates on the Grand River. The new shop features a variety of Lansing- and Michigan-themed goodies, including books, postcards, metal wall art and T-shirts.

“I’m beyond excited for all the artists we’ve been able to bring in,” Brogan said.

The duo is also planning a coffee shop for the City Market, River Town Cafe, which they hope to open within the next month or two. The shop will feature coffees from the Coffee Barrel, as well as espresso, cappuccino and lattes.

The gift shop is the latest addition to the ever-evolving City Market. LS Jewelry Designs and Florals moved into the market earlier this year, offering custom-made jewelry and fresh flower arrangements. Krystal’s Kountry Kitchen sets up shop in the market on Saturdays, offering specialty breads and baked good. Iggy's In Convenience, a specialty food and beverage shop, joined City Market in December.

“I am thrilled that new permanent vendors are in various stages of moving in,” said Audrey Tipper, City Market manager. “My favorite part of the job is working with community businesses to create an opportunity where we all benefit.”

Capital Loop Gifts will become the new sign-in site for River Town Adventures, which Brogan hopes will bring new customers into the City Market. He’s excited about the growth of the Stadium District and the potential of the market.

“There are a lot of young professionals moving down here,” Brogan said. “I think they’re really going to utilize the City Market.”
