Being a tourist in a new city is fun, but there are plenty of hidden treasures to discover in Greater Lansing. The 22nd annual Be a Tourist in Your Town, sponsored by the Greater Lansing Convention and Visitors Bureau, features over 80 local businesses, museums and other attractions offering special one-day opportunities. A $1 passport, available at the Greater Lansing Visitors Center, 500 E. Michigan Ave. in Lansing and 549 E. Grand River Ave. in East Lansing, gets you free access to a variety of activities. Participating locations include Be a Tourist favorites like Potter Park Zoo, Impression 5 Science Center and the Michigan Historical Museum, as well as new stops like Knockerball Lansing and NCG Eastwood Cinema. LanSINGout pays tribute to its favorite rock ‘n’ roll artists with its spring concert, “Rock-n-Roll: Music That Changed Our Lives” LanSINGout, founded in 1988 as the Greater Lansing Gay Men’s Chorus, was formed to present a positive image of the gay community and provide a safe place for gay men and allies to socialize. 7:30 p.m. Saturday; 3 p.m. Sunday. $10-$20. Mason’s downtown brewery invites you to kick your summer off in a bad way with the BAD Summer Block Party. Hosted by BAD Brewing Co., this outdoor event features live music, food from Good Bites food truck and 30 BAD beers and ciders on tap. The drink list includes rarities like a tequila barrel aged pale ale and a version of the brewery’s Kracken IPA made with black peppercorns and tangerine peel. Attendees must be 21 or older. A portion of the proceeds will go to Small Talk Children's Assessment Center, which provides services for victims of child abuse. 5-11 p.m. $5. BAD Brewing Company, 440 S. Jefferson St., Mason. Lansing Brewing Co. kicks off the summer with its first ever Swill & Swine fest. Admission includes three tickets that are good for one draft beer or one food plate, which includes a pulled pork sandwich, corn on the cob and chips. The brewery also unveils a new smoked beer, and cover band Avon Bomb provides live music for the day’s festivities. Attendees must be 21 or older. $5 from each ticket sold will go to to Ele's Place, which provides services for children and teens who lose close family members. 4-8 p.m. $25/$20 mug club members.
