Here's what's going on in town today

Good day on this hot Thursday.

Learn about locomotives with the Lansing Model Railroad Club and the Capital Area Railway Society at the Children's Garden Train Day. Children can watch trains of all shapes and sizes, help construct a train village, discover what happens on the tracks, and more. 10 a.m.-noon. $5 children (does not include parking). MSU Children's Garden, 1066 Bogue St., East Lansing. (517) 355-5191, 4hgarden.cowplex.com.

LCC's latest summer theater production opened yesterday. Adapted from Mark Twain’s “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,” this play follows Huck Finn as he flees the claws of "civilization" for the freedom of the mighty Mississippi, only to find himself running from mobs, getting shot at, stealing gold, digging escape tunnels and mastering disguises. His greatest adventure might be unexpectedly finding his own moral compass. 7 p.m. July 20-24. LCC's Amphitheatre, between Dart Auditorium and the Gannon Building, with Dart Auditorium as the rain location. (517) 483-1488. lcc.edu.
