8-week-old puppy found in dumpster; reward offered

FRIDAY, Aug. 12 — The Ingham County Animal Control & Shelter is offering a $500 reward for information about an 8-week-old puppy found in a dumpster in South Lansing yesterday morning.

“It was very hot inside the dumpster and the puppy was overheated,” said Officer Sarah Schertel of Animal Control. “He drank lots of water once he was at the shelter. He’s doing well now and so far health tests are coming back with good results.” Shertel responded to a call at an apartment community near Jolly Road and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

The reward is for information leading to a conviction for animal abandonment or animal cruelty. Call (517) 676-8370 or the tip line at (517) 676-8376 to remain anonymous.

The puppy isn’t available for adoption yet due to the investigation. But other pets are available at reduced rates because of overcrowding.
