Charlotte dance group invited to perform at Sugar Bowl

Posted

This year’s Allstate Sugar Bowl pits the Auburn Tigers against the Oklahoma Sooners, but the game’s halftime show will feature some Greater Lansing-grown talent.

WorldStrides OnStage programs has invited the dance team from Charlotte’s the Dance Studio to perform at the Sugar Bowl Jan. 2. The six dancers will join dance, cheer and drill teams from across the country in the halftime show finale of the high profile college bowl game. This is the second college bowl appearance for Vickie Diebold, owner and artistic director of the Dance Studio.

“We were honored to be asked to participate in the Orange Bowl in 2014, and we are thrilled to again be joining dancers from all over the country to dance for the Sugar Bowl halftime show,” Diebold said.

The Dance Studio team will travel to New Orleans, where they will rehearse for three days with nationally recognized choreographers. In their free time, they will take in the sights and sounds of the city.

“The girls have been working hard to raise the money needed to attend the Sugar Bowl, including hosting a craft show and producing a ‘Nutcracker’ brunch,” Diebold said. We look forward to representing the city of Charlotte as we travel to New Orleans for the experience of a lifetime.”
