Good day on this cold and cloudy Friday.

The Arts Council of Greater Lansing brings its traveling pop-up art festival, Arts Night Out, back to its home base in Old Town this month. The event hops around, visiting different neighborhoods on the first Friday of each month. Local businesses turn into art galleries and performance spaces for the evening. This month's venues include Absolute Gallery, MICA Gallery, Grace Boutique and more. The Arts Council office hosts artist Jessica Kovan, whose multimedia paintings and collages spread messages through color, design and text. 5 p.m. FREE. Old Town, Lansing. Call or see web for participating locations. (517) 372-4636, myartsnightout.com.

A new platform for gospel, hip-hop and other entertainment launches today at the Robin Theatre. The first edition of #SoundCheck features Jackson-based singer Shantelle Hawkins, a Rhythm of Gospel Awards nominee. Comedian Daryl Watts also makes an appearance, along with several special guests. Hors d'oeuvres and refreshments are available. 8 p.m. $1/$10 adv. The Robin Theatre, 1105 S. Washington Ave., Lansing. (517) 977-7356, therobintheatre.com.
