FRIDAY, JAN 13 — This morning, the Gillespie Co. announced a new development on the south side of Michigan Avenue’s 2200 block, just a few blocks east of its upcoming Venue at East Town project.

The 2200 block project, Provident Place, is a proposed four-story mixed use development with 9,500 square feet of retail space and 33 residential units. Two vacant buildings, 2216 and 2224 Michigan Ave., will be demolished to make way for the development.

“We are excited to introduce another project aimed at improving the Michigan Avenue corridor,” said Scott Gillespie, founder and owner of the Gillespie Co. “Redevelopment of these properties advances the vision of East Town as a vibrant, attractive, successful place to live and work.”

The project cost is estimated at $7 million and is expected to be completed in the fall of 2018.
