What's up in Lansing: #Lovewins and more

Here's what's going on in town today

Posted

Good day on this second day of spring.

MSU Professor Karin Zitzewitz explores the intersection of religious imagery and queer identity in a presentation at the MSU Library Tuesday. #LOVEWINS: Sly Religiosity and Queer Politics in the Secular Museum looks at the work of two groundbreaking artists. As Hindu chauvinism dominated India in the 1990s, gay painter Bhupen Khakhar exploited Hindu imagery to explore gay love. Around the same time, Cuban-American gay artist Felix Gonzalez-Torres turned to Catholic symbols to confront the HIV/AIDS epidemic and the homophobic politics that exacerbated the epidemic. 7 p.m. FREE. Green Room, MSU Library, 366 W. Circle Drive, East Lansing. (800) 500-1554, lib.msu.edu.
