Joshua Barton & Seerstones 'Witness' LP release

Lansing-based songwriter Joshua Barton, formerly of the local shoegaze outfit Fields of Industry, returns with his first release in three years and a new band, Joshua Barton & Seertones. Saturday, Barton releases the groups’s debut, “Witness,” at the People’s Church in downtown East Lansing; Star Path opens the show. The new record explores new territory for Barton, hitting more dark, haunting tones, and is accented with rich, multi-part vocal harmonies. Aside from Barton, the “Witness” LP features multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Peter Hochstedler, who also engineered the mostly live recording sessions, as well as guest musicians Gordon Kwiatkowski, Thom McAlvey, John Voss and Sam Copperman. Local H at Mac's Bar

While best known for the 1996 alt-rock hit “Bound for the Floor,” Local H has kept it copacetic since then, releasing six more studio albums. Its most recent, 2015’s “Hey, Killer” LP, was released on G&P Records. Led by guitarist and vocalist Scott Lucas, the stripped-down rock duo has been playing shows since 1987, with Lucas being the only constant member. Last month, Local H made headlines after winning a contest allowing them to open shows for Metallica on a string of dates. Opening the Mac’s Bar show are local outfits the Plurals and Luxury Flux. The Plurals is preparing for a fall release of its fourth LP, “Swish.” The forthcoming disc promises to be the tightest songwriting and most polished production yet from the group, as the trio delves into heavy indie rock songs echoing the likes of Guided By Voices and Screaming Females.

RaeLynn at the loft

Country music artist RaeLynn, known for her appearances on the second season of NBC’s “The Voice,” headlines May 19 at the Loft. The concert is a part of WITL’s Rising Stars Concert Series. Since making it to the quarterfinals on “The Voice,” RaeLynn — real name Racheal Lynn Woodward — has kept busy in the modern country market. She released her debut record, “Wildhorse,” earlier this year via Warner Music Nashville. The disc debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Albums chart. Woodward co-wrote 11 of the album’s 12 tracks. The lead single from the LP, “Love Triangle,” reached the Top 30 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart. Late last month, the Texas native made her late-night TV debut, performing the single on NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers.”
