What's up in Lansing: Better Living Book Club

For those interested in exploring an age-old theological conundrum, perhaps attending Better Living Book Club’s evening meeting today will be the perfect start to the week. This time, the group is exploring the 1981 classic “When bad things happen to good people” by Rabbi Harold S. Kushner.

Kushner’s book explores his 3-year-old son’s sudden diagnoses with a degenerative disease. The author asks in a straightforward manner, “Why, God?” Kushner then present four theories to the reader and outlines why he feels one bests explains the situation.

The former New York Times bestseller has been a classic read for decades and reviews are overwhelmingly positive.
