What's Up in Lansing: Auditions - The Government Inspector

Posted

Though the City Pulse Pulsar Awards just happened, it doesn’t mean that you have to give up your love of theatre. Why not audition for a play? Lansing Community College is hosting auditions for the 1835 Russian classic, the “Government Inspector.”

Set in a small Russian village, the five-act play is a comedy, poking fun at a case of mistaken identity. The villagers expect a high-standing government official to visit their town, but when someone else is mistaken the official, the story begins.

Though it’s rare for a play to become a classic, the 19th century story is an exception. Even recently its Off Broadway performance at the Duke on 42nd Street Theater got it a rave review from the New York Times.
