Adreian Payne alleged sexual assault statement abridged version.

In the early hours of Aug 31, 2010, officers from Michigan State University knocked on the door of a dorm room in Wonders Hall.

The room belonged to freshmen basketball players Adreian Payne and Keith Appling. The warrant was related to their alleged involvement in a sexual assault two days earlier. Appling declined to speak to investigators, but Payne agreed.

For the last eight years, rumors have named Payne and Appling as the alleged perpetrators in that sexual assault, but this weekend ESPN named both in an explosive investigation about sexual violence at MSU and among its athletes.

Appling is currently on parole on state weapons charges. Payne was playing for the Orlando Magic, but on Saturday, after ESPN released part of its reporting, the team waived him.

Below is the entire interview between Payne and MSU investigators. The MSU Police submitted a warrant request for both players in 2010 on charges of third degree criminal sexual conduct, but then prosecutor Stuart Dunnings III declined to bring charges, setting off protests.
