WEDNESDAY, July 18 — Ingham County Animal Control is hosting a “Meow Luau” through the weekend featuring discounted cat adoptions because of overcrowding at the shelter.

“During the summer months, cats and kittens are coming into the shelter almost hourly,” outreach manager Kate Turner said, “and having an outlet for getting these cats new homes is critical.” The shelter is at full capacity, she added.

Adoption fees though Sunday are discounted to $20 for kittens 6 months or younger and $10 for those over 6 months old.

Shelter hours are till 7 p.m. today and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. tomorrow through Sunday. The shelter is at 600 Curtis St. in Mason.

Also, with the help of Corr Commercial, cats and kittens will be available for adoption at the Frandor Shopping Center noon to 8 p.m. Saturday and noon to 3 p.m. Sunday.

Donations for food, medical care, adoption sponsorships and other shelter needs are also being sought.
