SATURDAY, DEC. 1 – Though some will be tempted to hibernate after Thanksgiving feasts, Kimberly Whitfield wants to get people out, moving and motivated to be their best healthy selves.

“I believe your health is your wealth. There are a lot of things we can't change, but we are in control with our minds and how we may feel,” Whitfield said. “That is the key.”

Whitfield will lead three complimentary fitness classes for those who will attend involving canned vegetables as weights. The Greater Lansing Food Bank will be in attendance for these unorthodox weights to be donated afterward. Anyone who plans on donating to the GLFB should visit its online wish list for most needed foods locally.

“The classes are fun and focused on toning, sculpting the body with medium weights. Fitness should be fun, so I try to really inspire people to work at their own pace,” Whitfield said.

Aside from the fitness classes, the event will also have vendors, blood pressure screenings, chair massages, healthy cooking and smoothie demonstrations, holiday beauty tips, safety awareness, spoken word poetry, coloring stations and goodie bags.

“I want people to feel inspired, beautiful and strong,” she added.

Whitfield opened up Inspiring Beauty in Strength LLC in 2014 as a leap of faith, she said. Whitfield holds her public classes out of the Trinity A.M.E. Church and the Go Workout Fitness Center.

“It was something where it was on my mind for quite a long time. There was always a whisper of, ‘No you should wait,’” Whitfield said.

Then one day she decided to ignore the voice and filed for a business license.

“I had to tell myself don't be so overwhelmed, only do two things for your business. I started and that’s what I encourage others to do. I still am in the this bungee jump phase and need to keeping working,” she said.

Whitfield also started the Kueen Warrior movement, empowering women to be strong, healthy, fit and confident.

“I want women to feel good about themselves, and know they own a space in the universe,” she said.

The Gillespie Group and TGC Cares will be sponsoring.

“I hope people will be inspired and look to jumpstart their 2019 with a healthy diet.”
