WEDNESDAY, Jan. 2 — The Aimcriers are bringing a soulful blend of folk and rock to Crunchy’s with the theme of road tapes — covering songs listened to on road trips while throwing in some originals as well.

“The covers are eclectic, but there will be a few songs everyone knows,” said guitarist/vocalist Johnny Aimcrier. Past themes have been songs written by women artists and bands from Arizona.

The Aimcriers release music on Grand Ledge’s Bijilak Records. The group’s last release was the eight track “Solid State World” in 2013.

An Aimcrier band motto is “honesty, earnestness and truth.”

“There is a lot of poseurs out there and we feel we are not in that group,” Aimcrier said. “We are not 16 or 17-year-old kids. We are all about telling the truth.”

An Arizona native, Aimcrier picked up music after college. “I was working full time after college and figured out there is more to life than working full time. I was trying to find a free time activity I enjoy.”

The Aimcriers are currently working on a new release, he said.

“I’ve gotten more into the recording and publishing side of it, not for myself but for other projects,” Aimcrier said. “Now it is playing music and getting music copyrighted, publishing it, recording itself, mixing and mastering.”

Aimcrier plays Crunchy’s every first and third Wednesday of the month.
