FRIDAY, Jan. 4 — The female-fronted Avon Bomb brings its rock, pop and funk fervor to the Green Door stage for four hours of revelry.
The veteran 7-year-old Lansing band is composed of lead vocalist and guitarist Karle Delo, keyboardist Lindsay Luoma, drummer Ryan Fedewa, lead guitarist Art Coscarelli and bassist Steve Langlois.
The group covers anything from Led Zeppelin to Madonna.
The reason for the name Avon Bomb was simple, Delo said. “We wanted to have something exciting and make it obvious it is a female fronted group.”
Delo is a middle school science teacher by day and frontwoman by night.
“What I do in the classroom and on stage benefits both professions,” Delo said. “I teach a unit on light and sound waves and always talk about playing gigs and venues and how the sound travels through different materials.”
Being a female fronted band makes Avon Bomb stand out, Delo said.
“People might underestimate us initially, but it's amazing to see that change once we start playing,” Delo said. “The music industry is typically male dominated so when women get up there and rock out it gets everyone's attention.”
Delo also works as a solo acoustic act.
“We want every person to walk away thinking they loved a song they heard tonight.”
