Ted Neeley, who starred in the film adaptation of "Jesus Christ Superstar," will reprise the role in a touring production of the Andrew Lloyd Webber/Tim Rice rock opera coming to the Wharton Center at 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 5. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. March 15.

Featuring such songs as "Everything's Alright," "I Don't Know How to Love Him" and "Could We Start Again Please," the musical drama is set in Jesus' final days, from his betrayal by Judas to his trial before Pilate and his crucifixion. Originally presented as a concept album in 1970, "Superstar" got a Broadway staging the following year; the film, which also starred Carl Anderson and Yvonne Elliman, opened in 1973. Neeley and Anderson both received Golden Globe nominations for their performances.

Tickets are $35 and $50. Call (517) 432-2000 or (800) WHARTON, or visit www.whartoncenter.com for more information.
