'Cheatin','April' among this week's theater openings

“Cheatin’” (Lansing Civic Players) — Wagging tongues and other wagging body parts stir up big trouble in a tiny Texas town where infidelity is inescapable. “In the Blood” (Michigan State University Auditorium Arena Theatre) — Playwright Suzan-Lori Parks puts a contemporary spin on “The Scarlet Letter,” as single mom Hester (Piaget Ventus) encounters hostility and humiliation while looking for help. (Parks will speak at Pasant Theatre at 7:30 p.m. April 5; tickets are $22.50.)
