’Mr. Sims Will See You’ peeks behind the curtains

Local playwright Eileen O’Leary knows what goes on behind the scenes, says director Bill Helder, and she’s brought those insights to "Mr. Sims Will See You."

Capitol Theater Works will stage the world premiere comedy this weekend.

It’s the humorous story of actress Elise Mayhew (played by Capitol Theater Works co-founder Tanya Burnham), who spends her last dime to leave behind the New York theatrical world and take a shot at Hollywood stardom. Accompanying her is her husband, fellow actor Jerry MacQuarrie (Kevin Burnham, also a Capitol Theater Works founder).

“The more often you go to the theater and the more you know about theater, the funnier this play will be," Helder said.

"Mr. Sims Will See You" will be performed at 8 p.m. Friday, June 11 and 18, and Saturday, June 12 and 19. There will be 2 p.m. matinees Sunday, June 13 and 20. Admission is free.

Capitol Theater Works is located at the Ledges Playhouse, 133 Fitzgerald Park Drive in Grand Ledge. For more information, call (517) 627-7351 or visit www.capitoltheaterworks.org.
