Who knows what pulpy treasures lurk in the hearts and attics of men? The 37th annual Classicon knows! In case you didn’t get that, it’s a reference to “The Shadow,” a classic pulp fiction series that began in 1931. If you aren’t familiar with “The Shadow,” or “Phantom Detective” or “Doc Savage,” or any of the thousands of other pulp magazines and novels written to tease, mystify and titillate young (and old) minds between the 1920s and 1960s, then you might want to check out the Classicon this weekend.
This is the 37th year for the local show, which is hosted by the Curious Book Shop. On display will be a ton of vintage masterworks like comics, pinup posters, sci-fi western fantasy novels, and artwork. 10 a.m.-4 p.m. $3. University Quality Inn, 3121 E. Grand River Ave., (just north of Frandor). For more information, go to www.curiousbooks.com
