"It's a Breast Thing," held each October, focuses on breast cancer awareness and treatment through a host of activities. But the main event must be the bra decorating contest.

Some of this year's bra decorators include Chico’s, Kellie’sConsignment, Breslin Cancer Center and Michigan State University Department of OBGYN/Surgery.

The decorated bras are collected will be offered for sale in a silent auction from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6 at Perspective 2, 319 E. Grand River Ave., in Old Town. Attendees can also vote on their favorites; the top 11 bras will be displayed in a calendar featuring breast cancer survivors.

The event will also include information on breast cancer prevention and treatment from the American Cancer Society, Breast Center of Lansing and the YMCA, among others.

"It's a Breast Thing" is free and open to the public. Call (517) 381-5432 or visit www.itsabreastthing.org for more information.
