Mid-Michigan Family Theater unveils a 'Masterpiece' this weekend

(Friday, Nov. 5) Noonie, the heroine of "Noonie's Masterpiece in Purple," might seem like your average
10-year old, but she’s not. When her father leaves for foreign
service duty, she is left in the care of her aunt, uncle and cousin — who seem less like family and more like evil guardians out to get her.

When Noonie’s artwork is
appreciated by her art teacher, the little girl deals with her situation through art. Her
mission: creating a masterpiece.

“It’s a comedy-drama," says Bill Gordon, director of the Mid-Michigan Family Theater play. "It has its
funny moments and its serious moments. We have a cast of 11. They were all selected through auditions. Our lead
actress is Erin Ruark. She’s a 10-year-old
from Lansing, and she’s doing quite well.”

The play, based on Lisa Railsback's book "Noonie's Masterpiece," opens at
Mid-Michigan Family Theater this weekend and continues next weekend.
