Something 'Unexpected' at Riverwalk

Yasmina Reza play will be staged as a fund-raiser this weekend

Riverwalk Theater will showcase Yasmina Reza’s “The Unexpected Man” at a special fund-raising event Friday and Saturday to “help us get through the winter months,” said Mike Siracuse, Riverwalk manager.

Directed by Brad Rutledge, the play takes place entirely in a compartment of a train headed for Frankfurt, Germany. The storyline is told almost entirely through the internal monologues of two characters, a novelist named Parsky (Michael Hays) and his admirer, Martha (Gini Larson). Not until the end of the play do the characters reveal themselves to each other and to the audience.

“The Unexpected Man” will be performed at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the Black Box Auditorium of RiverwalkTheater, 228 Museum Drive in Lansing. General admission is $12, or $10 for seniors, students and military. Call (517) 482-5700 or visit www.riverwalktheatre.com.
