Turn back the clock at 'Ragtime Festime' Friday

Thursday, Oct. 10 — Ragtime is a dance genre
that peaked in popularity in the early 1900s, until it was phased out by jazz. But
it’s never gone completely out of style.

The Mayflower
Congregational Church will host “Ragtime Festime: Three Keyboards and an Alto”
at 7 p.m. Friday.

The second annual event
features old rags like “The Entertainer” and “I Want to Go Back to Michigan” and
new rags like last year’s “Ragtime Santa.”

Pianists David Bandfield,
Chrisann Lowe and Bill McHarris performed at last year’s event, but this time they
will be joined by ragtime alto Karen Nault. Complimentary homemade desserts
will be available following the show.
