Ashkenazim, Sephardim, Romaniots? Book of Yosippon as a Model for the Shoah

Dr. Steven Bowman of the University of Cincinnati recently translated the Book of Yosippon, the first history of the Second Temple period, ending in the destruction of Jerusalem, its Temple, and the power of the priestly class. He will tie it to the origins of Sephardi, Ashkenaz, and the Romaniots and its ramifications for the Holocaust. He will speak in the James Madison College Library, 332 Case Hall. Presented by the Michael and Elaine Serling Institute for Jewish Studies and Modern Israel. Co-sponsored by James Madison College, the College of Arts and Letters, Religious Studies and Peace and Justice Studies.
