Board & Brush Creative Studio opens Lansing location

TUESDAY, April 27 — A chain of art studios that teaches patrons how to handcraft artisan goods from scratch is opening a new location in Lansing. Board & Brush debuts Saturday and aims to provide a fun space for people to enjoy crafty workshops and maybe a few glasses of wine.

“The goal is that everyone who comes to our workshops will leave with something they’re proud to display in their home or give to a friend as a gift,” said Board & Brush Lansing co-owner Rachel Seidel.

Guests to Board & Brush’s grand opening will be able to tour its studio space and learn how its workshops go down. There will also be free locally baked treats and freshly brewed coffee. The first 50 in attendance will also receive a complimentary gift bag.

Seidel said her goal with Board & Brush is to create a comfortable space in Lansing where people of any skill level can spend time learning how to craft homemade art projects without any fear of judgment.

“The best part about coming to our studio is that you can make a mess and we’ll take care of it,” Seidel.

The supplies offered by Board & Brush include a wide variety of woods, paints and, of course, all of the necessary woodworking tools used to create things such as frames, signs, custom boxes, outdoor furniture and other décor projects. Seidel said Board & Brush’s workshops give guests 400 different design projects to choose from.

“We cover every aspect of life in your home that you want to be inspired by,” Seidel said.

Asides from workshops, Board & Brush will also host outdoor game day events with summer activities like cornhole. You can also book private studio time where you and a group of friends can take a crafting class together. Seidel said Board & Brush also has plans to partner with Sanctuary Spirits in order to offer wine, cider and other spirits during its workshops.

“Sanctuary Spirits will be operating a tasting room out of our location. It’s not quite ready, but it’s something really cool and unique that we’re going to have,” Seidel said.”
