Brrs, Beards & Brews: A Lumberjack Festival

Posted

Fans of bourbon, beer and buffalo plaid will fit right in at Old Town’s sixth annual Lumberjack Festival, running noon to 5 p.m. Saturday (March 29) on the 1200 block of Turner Street.

The event will feature a feats of strength competition, the exact content of which will remain a mystery until the day of. However, participants are “almost guaranteed” to wind up holding a log, according to the Facebook event page. Ominously, a Facebook post adds that for a small donation, viewers can toss pancakes at teams “to either help or hinder them.” Teams should be made up of four people and should probably be well dressed — the judges “may decide to award you style points.”

Following the feats of strength competition will be a beard and mustache competition, along with a “wiskerinas” competition for those unable to grow facial hair. There will also be vendors, street games and plenty of food and beverages for purchase. Many of those beverages will be alcoholic, so attendance is limited to those 21 and older. A $10 donation is suggested for entry. For more information, visit facebook.com/OldTownLansing.
