Provisioning centers selling recreational marijuana have opened in Ann Arbor and elsewhere in Michigan—but here in Lansing, the process to obtain a recreational sales license has yet to start. But the process will begin Dec. 23 – and there is some hope that by February recreational marijuana will be for sale locally. Schwartz talked to Thomas James, owner of Homegrown, a provisioning center on Pennsylvania Avenue that already sells medical marijuana and which has applied to sell recreationally.
Arts editor Audrey Matusz reports on The Artist Umbrella, which started hosting variety shows in June at The Loft in Downtown Lansing and Henry’s Place in Okemos. The trio behind the monthly showcase started the event series initially to carve out a safe space for readings. Now, they claim to be transforming the lives of local artists
