MONDAY, Feb. 1 — Citing the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the Lansing Symphony Orchestra has canceled the remainder of its 2021 season.

"A great deal of research, analysis and discussion among staff, musicians, board members and experts contributed to our decision to cancel the remainder of the season,” LSO executive director Courtney Millbrook said in a press release. “We did not arrive at this place lightly, but we are confident that making safe and prudent decisions now will allow us to return to the stage as soon as possible.”

The LSO also announced that it will be hosting a number of virtual concerts on its website, LSOvideo.com. The website will host a new virtual concert each month starting in February. Millbrook said that the pandemic “will not stop the LSO from contributing to the community and being a source of inspiration.”
