“Of Equal Place: Isotopes in Motion,” a collaboration between Michigan State University’s Wharton Center and Facility for Rare Isotope Beams and national dance company Dance Exchange, will return to the stage for the first time since its 2022 premiere 7:30 p.m. Thursday (Nov. 14) at Wharton’s Cobb Great Hall.
The multimedia show fuses physics and art to showcase the research being conducted at FRIB while exploring themes found in both physics and dance: stability and instability, measurement, acceleration, fragmentation and navigating mystery. The result is “a pulsating mélange of dance, music, visuals and text,” City Pulse staff writer Lawrence Cosentino wrote in 2022, prior to the show’s debut.
The show celebrates the contributions of people of color, women and youth to science and the arts. Thursday’s performance will feature talent from local organizations and dance studios such as Happendance, Greater Lansing Ballet Co., All of the Above Hip Hop Academy and Everett High School’s dance company.
Tickets start at $25 for adults or $15 for students and youth and are available at the Wharton Center Ticket Office, online at whartoncenter.com or by calling (517) 432-3000.
