The Peace Education Center will hold its annual Alternative Holiday Sale 5 to 9 p.m. Friday (Nov. 15) and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 16) at East Lansing’s Edgewood United Church. A tradition for more than 50 years, the event highlights local artists, businesses, nonprofits and fair-trade cooperatives as vendors, providing an ethical and community-focused way to shop for holiday gifts. Meals and snacks will also be available for purchase.
Folk musician Reggie Harris will perform 7:30 p.m. Friday, hosted by the Ten Pound Fiddle. Committed to “music as a community-building vehicle,” according to his website, Harris shares his perspectives on life, history, education and human rights through his songs. His solo concerts are “filled with haunting melodies, poignant stories and familiar songs where everyone can join in,” according to the Fiddle.
Admission to the sale is free, but tickets are required for the concert. To purchase tickets, visit tenpoundfiddle.org. For more information about the sale, visit peaceedcenter.org/event/alternative-holiday-sale-2024.
