Still time to donate to LAFCU's Back-to-School Extravaganza

Posted

MONDAY, Aug. 15 — There’s still time to donate to the Back-to-School Extravaganza coordinated by LAFCU, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK and The Village Lansing.

The school-supply donations will help alleviate the financial burden of back-to-school shopping for local parents and teachers and help students begin the new school year with the supplies and tools they need for success.

Donations can be dropped off through Wednesday, Aug. 17, at any of LAFCU’s 10 branch locations during business hours and The Village Lansing, Monday, Wednesday and Friday, noon to 5 p.m. The Village is located at 3525 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Suite G, in Lansing. A list of LAFCU branches is at www.lafcu.com/contact-us/locations/branch-locations.

“Back-to-school time can be stressful for students, teachers and parents,” said Kelli Ellsworth Etchison, LAFCU chief marketing officer and chief diversity officer. “We want to make things easier for our community and ensure students and teachers have the supplies needed to excel during the school year.”

School supplies needed are backpacks, notebook paper, notebooks, three-ring binders, pencils, pencil bags, pens, rulers, pocket folders, one-subject notebook tablets, index cards, crayons, colored pencils, erasers, kids’ scissors, glue sticks, composition notebooks, highlighters, dry-erase markers, geometry sets and hole punchers.

Personalized hygiene supplies needed are toothpaste, deodorant, lotion, shampoo and conditioner, all in travel size, as well as toothbrushes, sanitary pads, disinfecting wipes, tissues and youth face masks.

A backpack pick-up event for grades K-12 will take place Saturday, Aug. 20, at The Village Lansing, 9 a.m. to noon, or while supplies last.
