The results of the 2024 Top of the Town contest highlight what Lansing residents have known for years: The area is home to some of the most innovative, consumer-focused cannabis companies in Michigan. With a longstanding tradition of excellence in the industry, Lansing has emerged as a hub for some of Michigan’s most in-demand cannabis products, and this year’s winners reflect the best of the best.
Pure Options and Pro-Gro sweep the awards
No stranger to success, Pure Options dominated this year’s contest, with its in-house brand Pro Gro leading the way. Pro Gro won all three Best Cannabis Flower categories and took home second place for Best Cannabis Growing Brand, reinforcing Pure Options’ reputation as one of the region’s premier flower producers. Pro Gro also won Best Distillate Cartridge and tied for second for Best Non-Solvent Concentrate, while another of Pure Options’ in-house brands, BAMN, earmed third place for Best Solvent Concentrate.
Pure Options’ success can be attributed not only to its top-tier products but also its consistent commitment to delivering exactly what consumers want. Its Frandor location was voted Best Indoor Grow Shop, Best Marijuana Provisioning Center and Best CBD Store/Boutique, while its Midtown store secured the third-place spot for Best Marijuana Provisioning Center. With a strong presence across the state, Pure Options is known for offering a well-curated selection of popular products, from flower to pre-rolls to vapes, while maintaining a welcoming, customer-friendly atmosphere.
Pure Options’ reach extends beyond cannabis and into the community, hosting big-name comedy shows at Grewal Hall at 224 and equally as notable concerts at its Frandor location. Situated near Michigan State University, the Frandor dispensary becomes a lively gathering spot on game days, offering a unique vibe for both locals and students.
Pincanna and Pleasantrees focus on quality and transparency
East Lansing also had its fair share of winners this year. Pincanna, a frequent Top of the Town favorite, was voted Best Cannabis Growing Brand and East Lansing’s Best Marijuana Provisioning Center, with a second-place finish in the Best Indoor Grow Shop and Best CBD Store/Boutique categories. Its proximity to Michigan State University has helped make it the go-to dispensary for students, blending convenience with quality.
Pincanna also had a strong showing in several product categories, with notable wins for its in-house brands Funky Extracts, which took first place in both edible categories, and Fruit & Fuel, which racked up awards in the Best Non-Solvent Concentrate, Best Distillate Cartridge and Best Cannabis Flower categories.
For East Lansing residents seeking top-notch cannabis in a more intimate setting, Pleasantrees also earned recognition as the second-best provisioning center in East Lansing and third-best CBD store/boutique. Although situated farther from campus, Pleasantrees stands out for its carefully curated selection of products and its commitment to quality. The company recently introduced a policy barring remediated cannabis flower in any of its retail locations, further solidifying its dedication to offering only the best to consumers.
This emphasis on transparency and quality is evident not only in Pleasantrees’ retail operations but also in its production practices. The company ensures all products sold in its stores — especially its own — meet the highest standards, free from remediation or potentially harmful CBD conversion oil.
This year’s winners are a testament to all the hard work, dedication and passion that keeps Lansing at the forefront of Michigan’s cannabis industry. An additional congratulations goes out to you, the voters. Your knowledge of products and standards for quality represent what’s best about our industry and culture.
