What's Up in Lansing: NAMI


For those close to someone with a mental illness, sometimes the situation can be tough. One way to help is through NAMI. NAMI stands for the National Alliance on Mental Illness. This is the nation's largest grassroots organization "dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness," according to its website.

The group provides 12-session courses for caregivers of someone with mental illness to teach both coping methods and to create discussion and interactive exercises. The courses provides both important information for caregivers, as well as methods to create a positive impact in the life of those affected by mental illness.
