Lansing mayoral, City Council and clerk candidates talk preservation, the proposed City Charter, red-tagging and more

This year, City Pulse conducted 30-minute Zoom interviews with city of Lansing candidates ahead of the November election.

City Pulse asked candidates about historic preservation, the proposed City Charter, the proposed ordinance that was introduced and pulled last month that would have given the city a monopoly on garbage collection services, red-tagging and homelessness in Lansing.

Chris Swope, the incumbent city clerk who is running unopposed, spoke on the  charter commission, for which he is also the clerk. Aurelius Christian did not respond to repeated requests for an interview.
