CALL FOR PROJECTS: ENHANCED MOBILITY OF SENIORS AND INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES SECTION 5310 FUNDING

All local public transportation providers, government entities, and non-profit organizations are advised that the CAPITAL AREA TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY (“CATA”) has released the FY 2026 5310 Call for Projects. This year, there is the following funding available:

FTA/State Enhanced Mobility (Section 5310)                          $900,000

The Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities program (Section 5310), a federal funding program locally administered by CATA, provides funding to support the transportation needs of individuals with disabilities and older adults. The program is designed to enhance mobility options and improve transportation services for these populations, helping them maintain their independence and participate fully in their communities. Eligible applicants included public transportation providers, government entities and non-profit organizations.

Eligible projects for this funding include the purchase of accessible vehicles (small buses and vans), providing mobility management services (such as travel training) and improving infrastructure (including sidewalks, curb cuts and bus stops). The application is open until Monday, Jan. 12, 2026. CATA staff is offering a Technical Assistance overview for interested applicants. Any questions or requests for Technical Assistance must be submitted to PlanningTeam@cata.org no later than Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2025. Projects are expected to be selected in February 2026 with final Board approval occurring on March 18, 2026.
