A large rally Sunday at the Lansing Center in downtown brought out hundreds of supporters for Abdul El-Sayed, a candidate for U.S. Senate.
El-Sayed was joined by U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders and U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and 7th Congressional District candidate Will Lawrence for the rally.
Lawrence reiterated his opposition to super PACS and election spending and said he intends to push for Medicare for all, stopping new data centers and removing big money from politics.

Lawrence, an activist and organizer, is running against former Navy SEAL Matt Maasdam and former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink.
El-Sayed is running in a narrowed race against U.S. Rep Haley Stevens for the Democratic nomination, after Mallory McMorrow dropped out.
During the rally, Ocasio-Cortez said there was a clear choice for El-Sayed.
She did not mention Lawrence by name and pointedly did not appear with him on stage at the end of the rally; Lawrence was joined by El-Sayed and Sanders at that point.

Ocasio-Cortez told Michigan Advance that she is careful with endorsements.
