Krampusnacht

4-9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6

Old Town, Lansing

Dubbed “Lansing’s new favorite holiday tradition” by City Pulse’s cover story on the event last year, Krampusnacht returns Saturday, bringing free, festive and mildly frightful fun to the streets of Old Town. Entertainment include a costume parade, a costume contest, fire dancing, live music (the lineup features Super Secret Cult Band, community street band Splendid Chaos, Katzenjammer Alphorns and DJ Whitney Who), a “misfit” vendor market, food trucks, a 50/50 raffle and photo opportunities with Krampus, the horned creature of Alpine folklore who travels with gift-giving St. Nicholas and doles out punishments to poorly behaved children. A kids’ area will offer family-friendly activities earlier in the event, giving way to an eerier atmosphere as the evening continues. Many Old Town businesses will offer themed items and specials, with the social district allowing attendees to purchase drinks to-go from local bars. Attendees are encouraged to dress up, whether in Krampus or holiday-themed attire. Those interested in participating in the parade can sign up via the event page at iloveoldtown.org.
