2-9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30-Sunday, Aug. 31
Adado Riverfront Park
201 E. Shiawassee St., Lansing
The 11th annual Michigan Chicken Wing Festival promises to “tantalize the taste buds” with the opportunity to sample more than 25 different flavors of wings from several vendors, who will be competing for this year’s people’s choice award, as well as many more non-wing offerings.
The fun doesn’t stop there, with hot-wing-eating competitions, a line dance contest, a kids’ zone and two full days of live entertainment on the main stage, hosted by Lee Groove and Tamilikia Foster. Saturday’s performers include neo-soul artist Rebecca Lane, country/blues/rock band The Split Shifters, reggae-rock band HWT and Don Tha DJ, while Sunday features performances by gospel musician Michelle Miller Bell, party band Denise Davis & the Motor City Sensations and blues/jazz group the Herb McGowan Band.
Two VIP packages are available at michiganchickenwingfestival.com, offering early entry, complimentary wing samples from select vendors, access to an alcohol tent and VIP seating area, a goody bag and a raffle ticket. General admission tickets will be available at the gate, with free admission for cancer survivors, members of the military, kids 14 and under and seniors 65 and older. Non-VIP attendees will be able to purchase wings directly from vendors and are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on.
A portion of proceeds will benefit the Against All Odds Foundation, which helps cancer survivors with essential needs such as groceries, prescription co-pays, cell phone bills and transportation to medical appointments, as well as operating a free retail store, Lillian’s, for members of underserved communities.
