Notice is hereby given of the following public hearing to be held by the East Lansing City Council on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at 7:00 P.M, at the East Lansing Hannah Community Center, 819 Abbot Road, East Lansing MI, 48823.
The City of East Lansing received notification regarding a proposed plan for new development near a 0.44 acre wetland. Both the parcel and wetland are located at 2447 E Lake Lansing Road and both are owned by 2447 2463 E Lake Lansing, LLC. A public hearing will be held to consider the regulatory status of the wetland.
Under authority of Chapter 49 Wetland Protection of the East Lansing City Code, the City Council must determine if wetlands under two acres in size are essential to the preservation of the natural resources of the City based on criteria set forth in Section 49-14, subsection (1). If determined to be essential, the wetland will be considered regulated and protected by the City of East Lansing, and regulated activity impacting the wetland area is subject to a Wetland Use Permit application, review and approval determination.
All persons wishing to make comments shall furnish their written comments to Cliff Walls, Environmental Sustainability and Resiliency Manager, City of East Lansing, 1800 E State Road, East Lansing MI, 48823, cwalls@cityofeastlansing.com.
Copies of the recommendation of the City’s wetland consultant, as well as comments made by the Commission on the Environment, may be obtained at the City of East Lansing Department of Public Works, 1800 E. State Road, between 7:30am and 4:30pm, Monday through Friday.
A staff report (Agenda Item Report) for each public hearing will be published on the City’s website the Friday before the meeting. To locate staff reports, please visit the City’s public meeting portal at https://cityofeastlansing.civicweb.net/Portal/ and select the meeting date.
The City of East Lansing will provide reasonable auxiliary aids and services, such as interpreters for the hearing impaired and audio tapes of printed materials being considered at the meeting, to individuals with disabilities upon request received by the City seven (7) calendar days prior to the meeting.
